The number of iPhone generations can be baffling to anyone who doesn't actually work in the industry. With so many different models being released, year in year out, all with quite confusing naming structure, it's not obvious to most people which one they should actually buy.

To help you decide which is the best iPhone for you, below we've listed all the different models, starting with the most recent 16 series, launched in September 2024. We'll also include a few key details for older iPhones, in case you see a refurbished or second-hand model and fancy snapping it up for a bargain.

Why you can trust Digital Camera World Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out how we test.
