Nikon Europe and the NOOR Foundation are teaming up to run the first online Nikon-NOOR Academy – a series of virtual documentary photography masterclasses – in spring 2021.
The Masterclasses will be held over a two-week period and each will include four sessions, led by Nikon-NOOR Academy tutors, who are themselves leading documentary photographers. Each tutor will help budding photographers work on their current portfolios, improve their technical skills and offer expert tips on how to create more impactful visual stories.
Nikon Ambassadors Sanne De Wilde, Kadir van Lohuizen and Pep Bonet are just three of the nine NOOR photographers who will be hosting the masterclasses. This is the first time the masterclass program, which has been running for 11 years, will be held online – due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Nikon Europe and the NOOR Foundation have collaborated on this free initiative since since 2009, as part of their commitment to encouraging young, aspiring documentary photographers. Nikon-NOOR Academy tutors have travelled the world to share their knowledge with up-and-coming photojournalists, training over 1,000 participants from more than 70 countries.
They share essential learnings from the field, giving guidance on working with fixers and safety tips, since many masterclass attendees go on to work in zones of conflict.
