Black Friday camera deals are coming in thick and fast! The good news is that most of the top brands are offering cashback redemptions that can add to the savings you make from the discounted products, and the timing is perfect. Add on the cashbacks and this year's Black Friday camera deals are better than ever.
Whether you want to upgrade to one of the best mirrorless cameras, invest in a brand new camera phone or you're looking for a shiny new telephoto lens, Black Friday is a great time to snap up a new kit or update your existing one.
For example, we saw some amazing offers on Fujifilm's medium-format cameras during Black Friday 2023, which made even the 102MP GFX 100S drop to the price point of a premium full-frame camera! The excellent Nikon Z8 has a grand slashed off its street price too, and while it's been a little cheaper since then, it means you'll likely see a record-low price on the pro full-framer.
Some of the best instant cameras will be discounted too, and they make excellent gifts. This year, the official sale dates are from November 29 (which is the actual Black Friday date) to December 2 (Cyber Monday), giving you plenty of time to sort out your Christmas gift shopping while also saving money.
To help you find the best Black Friday offers, we're listing only handpicked deals from trusted retailers that are worth your money and attention, listing them here in an easy-to-navigate page. And there's already plenty of camera, lens and accessory deals to shop.

Canon deals
The original 8K powerhouse is AU$900 off – a stunning saving already, but head to Canon's promotions site and you can claim an additional AU$300 in cashback that drops the final price down to just AU$4,099. With its 45MP stills and hi-res video capabilities, this is the best camera for all-purpose shooting.
In our Canon EOS R6 Mark II review, we said that this camera "makes mincemeat of other hybrids", and while there are now newer models that can do the same, we still mean every word. It's one of Canon's faster cameras and with plenty of AF tracking modes. It's an absolute beast!
There's plenty of features that you get on this entry-level camera that will help you hone your skills, meaning you get a lot of bang for your buck with the 24.2MP EOS R8. Up to 40fps burst speed, fantastic autofocus and a lightweight body too. Plus you get a lens to get your started and if you take advantage of Canon's AU$300 cashback offer, this kit will come down to AU$1,824.96 which is an absolute bargain!
Announced in May 2023, the R100 is Canon's most affordable RF-mount camera and this discount makes it even more so. While it doesn't feature an articulating touchscreen, it's got a lot of other features that are worthwhile for any beginner looking for a capable entry-level camera. 4K/24p video (cropped), good autofocus performance and an excellent 24.1MP sensor will help you hone your skills. It's been as affordable as AU$743 for the kit, but there's AU$100 available as cashback from Canon via redemption.
Canon users who've upgraded to the R-series cameras will be glad to know that the affordable nifty fifty is even cheaper now. This prime lens is offers pretty good low-light performance and is ideal for portraits. It's also compact and lightweight too.
Save AU$200.44
Compact, light and incredibly versatile, this RF-mount lens is a great pairing for any Canon R-series camera even after all these years (it launched back in 2019). Despite its name, though, it's not a true macro lens, but it still has a decent working distance of 7cm and gets you a 0.5x magnification. And its AF performance is pretty good too.
The EF version of this lens was one of the most popular optics Canon ever made and that's transferred onto the RF-mount lens too. It's smaller and lighter than the older DSLR lens and offers built-in image stabilisation too. With a versatile focal length range, this lens is great for any scenario, whether studio work, portraits, architecture, travel, street, nature, landscape... it's a must-have if you've a Canon R-series user.
A versatile super telephoto lens for Canon's R system, this lens is perfect for sports, wildlife, car and aviation photography. Its zoom mechanism is external, so it can get a little unwieldy at 500mm, but it's weather resistant, offers 3 stabilisation modes and high-speed autofocus.
Fujifilm deals
This massive discount is only possible if you take advantage of Fujifilm's current cashback offer that ends December 31. At this price, this 40MP speedster has remarkable speed and processing power – we were quite impressed with it when we tested it – and it gets you 8K video if you want to shoot in that kind of resolution. Plus you get a lens in the box too to get you started.
Given the X-S20 body alone has a RRP of AU$2,200, this discount on a single-lens kit is pretty good at 16% off the listed price. Giving you flagship performance, this camera became our favourite in 2020 when it was launched, excelling in both stills and video. You get 6.2K internal recording at 30fps in 4:2:2 10-bit colour, plus good subject tracking too from this 26.2MP snapper.
Nikon deals
This 24.5MP full-framer is a stunning shooter, with a 273-point AF system, good speed and precision, plus 4K/60p 10-bit recording. There's also up to 8 stops of image stabilisation with stabilised lenses. This is one kit that's worth checking out for Black Friday, particularly with the additional AU$200 bonus EFTPOS gift card from Nikon via redemption.
This marvellous pro camera has been down to around AU$5.3K on Amazon via a third-party seller, but if you hurry, you can pick it up from Ted's for a wee bit lower. No mechanical shutter, up to 120fps burst capabilities, amazing results, and up to 8.3K 60p N-RAW video recording from this 45.2MP full-framer.
It's been cheaper on Amazon but, at the time of writing, the fantastic Nikon Z6 III gets the biggest discount at Ted's Cameras. This 24.6MP full-framer can shoot at up to 120fps, gives you 6K video, has built-in image stabilisation and has dual card slots, one for a CFexpress device to make full use of its speed. Be sure to head to Nikon's website to redeem a AU$200 EFTPOS gift card to maximise your savings.
A nifty fifty lens is always useful in your camera bag and can be used to shoot anything from street photography to landscapes. If you're willing to purchase from a third-party seller on Amazon, this is one of the best prices currently to be found on this Nikkor lens.
Panasonic Lumix deals
This is a bigger discount than what Ted's is advertising – the S5 II body alone retails for AU$2,999 and the kit lens is an additional AU$550 at the very least, so this truly is a good bargain on Panasonic's latest flagship. Built for content creators, this full-frame camera can handle 6K video with ease and produce 24MP stills. You also get a 96MP high-res mode for photography. It's a fantastic hybrid camera at this price.
Sony deals
With the Mark III body now aging, it's no surprise that its list price has dropped to just above the two-grand mark. But despite its age, it's still a great workhorse. And while the actual discount at JB Hi-Fi isn't great, the AU$400 cashback on the camera available from Sony via redemption drops the price to what might just be an all-time low of AU$1,520.10
Sony's fifth-gen high-res camera is a steal at Ted's already. It's currently best price on this 61MP full-framer, and you get Sony's new AI-based AF system and 8K video capabilities (albeit at 24fps) on board. There's even up to 8 stops of image stabilisation. If you're a landscape photographer, this is the kind of camera you really want.
From YouTube and TikTok videos to basically any live streaming needs you might have, the Sony ZV-E1 is the perfect camera to shoot your vlogs. It's next level with stunning 4K video up to 120fps. Admittedly it's expensive for a vlogging camera but it is a full-frame model and, honestly, it's a damn good one. Available in black and white via the same listing.
A far more expensive camera than the first-generation model, the Mark II is worth the price bump. This rangefinder-style full-frame camera now has a 33MP BSI sensor that's been used in the A7 IV and can handled stills and 4K/30p video with aplomb. It's got a max burst rate of 10fps, so you can even shoot some action and wildlife, and it is ideally sized as a travel companion.
Third-party lenses
For a budget price, this portrait lens is fantastic value for Sony E-mount camera users. This is an 85mm equivalent with a bright f/1.4 fixed aperture that offers lovely blurry backgrounds. It uses an STM autofocus motor that promises smooth and quite performance, plus it's compact and lightweight too.
This Sony-mount standard zoom is a 'trinity', with its weather sealing and constant f/2.8 aperture making it perfect for pros and serious shooters alike. With an optical construction consisting of 17 elements in 15 groups, it promises excellent image quality, including good edge-to-edge sharpness. Tamron's VXD autofocus motor promises fast and precise performance.
When will Black Friday camera deals in 2024 start?
This year, the official Black Friday sale period is from November 29 through to Monday, December 2, 2024 (Cyber Monday), and some of the best camera deals won't be available after that date. However, Black Friday camera deals in Australia start about two weeks ahead of that date, so start checking retailers around November 15.
While most camera retailers usually stick with their best offers during the three week period that includes the actual sale, some can drop the prices further during Cyber Weekend proper, so you might want to wait till November 29 to see how much you can actually save.

When is Black Friday 2024?
As we've just mentioned, Black Friday this year falls on Friday, November 29. That means Cyber Monday will be on December 2.
That's still a few months away, giving you plenty of time to figure out what you'd like to get – a new camera for beginners, the best instant camera perhaps, or just a lens or two. You'll get almost an entire week of the best prices on photography gear, but don't dally as stocks may be low and you could miss out.
Where to find Black Friday camera deals
Pretty much every Aussie retailer, whether a specialist camera store or a more general tech store, will be offering great discounts during Black Friday. Many of them will even price match or try and outdo the competition, so you may get lucky pitting one retailer against the other to bag the best bargain.
Chances are you won’t need to leave your home to snag a great Black Friday offer. Most in-store discounts will be offered online by the major retailers, so all you’ll need to do is keep your credit card handy and shop from your couch.
Before that, though, we’d recommend you have your shopping list ready and figure out what your budget is. Doing some research on prices now will help you determine whether a Black Friday offer is actually worth it or not when the sale finally begins.
Black Friday 2024: Shopping tips
Is Black Friday the best time to buy a camera?
As a general rule, Black Friday is a great time to buy a new camera, but not every deal is as good as it may seem initially – which is where we come in.
In some cases, retailers do mark up the prices of cameras and camera bundles in the run up to Black Friday, in order to offer a seemingly bigger discount during the run of the actual event itself. However, this doesn't necessarily make them a bad buy though as, on many occasions, their prices still drop to mouth-watering record lows. But in the grand scheme of things, the percentage saving may not be quite as large as advertised.
However, to combat these situations, we'll only highlight the actual saving of any Black Friday deal based on the camera's recent price history, and we will make sure it's genuinely a good deal before placing it in this hub. This isn't necessarily the norm, and many cameras do simply drop to their lowest-ever price for a brief period over Black Friday.
How to find the best camera deals
Of course, the best Black Friday deals will be on this page as soon as they launch. We’ll bring you the top bargains from all the best retailers when the discounts start rolling in on and before Black Friday. But there are a lot of different cameras to choose from, and it can get overwhelming at times, especially for photography beginners. We recommend making the most of our extensive camera knowledge to make sure you buy the right bit of kit for you come Black Friday.
If you're new to photography, a good grounding point is to start with our best camera for beginners guide. Once you've got a feel for which type of camera might suit your needs, check out our separate guides on the best camera for photography, the best mirrorless camera, or the best Micro Four Thirds camera, and if you want to take advantage of the lowering prices of DSLRs, check out our best DSLR guide – we've got the latest advice on them all.
Can I get cashback on Black Friday camera deals?
Typically, most camera brands don't offer cashbacks during November. Instead, your debit or credit card company might. It's worth looking into, but you can be sure that retailers will price match if you see a lower offer on a particular product elsewhere.
Another interesting option to consider is layby. Some retailers will allow you to select your gear during Black Friday at the discounted prices, pay a small deposit and then pick it all up later when you pay the full amount. This is advantageous when something is out of stock too and you've been assured of incoming stock. DCW's APAC Managing Editor tried this back in 2018, when she ordered a camera, two lenses (one of which was out of stock) and filters during the Black Friday sale then, but paid the full amount and picked up the entire kit only in mid-December.
Best deals from Black Friday 2023
Fujifilm GFX 100S (body) | AU$8,999.95 AU$6,349.96 at Ted's Cameras (AU$2,649.99 off after cashback)
While Ted's had only discounted this medium-format camera to AU$7,649.96, there was a whopping AU$1,300 cashback offer available from Fujifilm via redemption that made this one the biggest highlights of last year's Black Friday sale. 102MP on tap for the price of a premium full-framer is a bargain for anyone who mostly does studio work.
Leica SL2 (body) | AU$10,799 AU$9,895 at Diamonds Camera (AU$904 off)
It's very rare to find a Leica camera – any of them – discounted at any time of year, so seeing the SL2 full-framer get over AU$900 slashed off its rather exorbitant price tag was a surprise. In the grand scheme of things, that's not a huge saving, but hey, on a Leica it always is.
Nikon Z8 (body) | AU$6,799 AU$5,799 at Ted's Cameras (AU$1,000 off)
While the Nikon Z9 got a received a AU$1,541 discount on Amazon, we thought the grand off on the Z8 from Ted's was the better deal. It's got everything the Z9 can get you – with the exception of the dual controls on the bigger body – at a slightly lower price point. It's been cheaper since, dropping to around AU$5,336 on Amazon, so it's one to keep an eye on.
GoPro Hero 12 Black | AU$649 AU$487 at The Good Guys eBay (AU$162 off)
It's now been succeeded by the GoPro Hero 13 Black, but the snapping up the 12 last year for just AU$487 was one of the highlights of the Black Friday 2023 sale season. This came via an eBay listing on the official Good Guys store and with the use one of eBay's many checkout codes.
Fujifilm XF 150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR | AU$3,199 AU$1,999 at CameraPro (AU$1,200 off after cashback)
While the actual discount on this supertelephoto lens wasn't all that much, the additional cashback offer that Fujifilm had going then made it one heck of a deal. Offering a focal length range equivalent to 229-914mm in 35mm terms, this lens can get you closer to the action when paired with one of the best Fujifilm X-series cameras.
