The best waterproof cameras are way more useful than you think. Yes it's great to take a camera in the sea on your vacation, or have one that you can lean over a river and not worry about dropping.

But in an increasingly social media-driven world, having one of the best waterproof cameras enables me to get cool submerged shots or behind-the-scenes images that I just couldn't get with my regular kit! So whether you're heading to sandy beaches, whitewater rafting or just shooting somewhere it rains a lot, these cameras are a great investment.

I've been in love with waterproof cameras ever since having a toy one as a kid! Over the years I've used dozens of these cameras, and own a bunch of them myself – I always take an OM Tough or Pentax WG camera with me in the glovebox of my car or in the bottom of my kit bag, because I always want to snap an underwater shot!
