It’s almost time for Camera Store Week, the annual event that shines the spotlight on your local photo specialist.
While you can learn almost everything you need to know about the latest cameras, lenses and equipment online, there’s one thing that even the most detailed spec sheets and videos can’t tell you: how the gear feels in your hands, and what it’s like to actually use!
This is why your local camera store is so important – and it’s why Canon is supporting photo specialists everywhere with Camera Store Week, taking place from March 27 to April 02.
You can expect Canon Ambassadors and speakers delivering workshops and seminars, Canon Expert Days to get hands-on with EOS R equipment, and even the opportunity to print your images using Canon photo printers and paper. And there will be plenty of retailer-specific promotions on offer, too, brought to you with the expertise and excellent customer service that specialists provide.
All of which reminds us that there’s nothing like visiting your local camera dealer for in-person, interactive, informative insights and inspiration into photography and videography.
From established powerhouse bodies like the Canon EOS R5, with 45MP stills, 8K video and up to 8 stops of in-body image stabilization, to the brand new entry level full-frame Canon EOS R8 and the cutting-edge hybrid Canon EOS R6 Mark II, see the Canon range with your own eyes.
Whether you’re a complete newcomer to Canon kit, you’re an existing user who has been eyeing up a new lens, a photography expert who wants to unlock your camera’s video features, or you just want to inject some new life into your shooting, this is the perfect time to visit your local store.

There are multiple kinds of events going on during the week, from workshops led by Canon Ambassadors to touch-and-try sessions with Canon Experts. Here is a sample of some of the events taking place:
Seminar with Helen Bartlett (Bournemouth)
A professional portrait photographer and Canon Ambassador, Helen will be sharing the secrets of her success, from the kit she uses (and how she uses it) to breaking down her shoots and providing invaluable insight to the world of client work.
Hands-on photo walk with David Clapp (Carlisle)
Time to put principle into practice! Join David on a photo walk where he will show you how he shoots and why. From spotting the decisive moment to the settings you need to ensure you capture it, this is a great opportunity to see a pro at work.
Canon Expert Days
Get one-to-one advice on how to fine-tune Canon kit for you, with hands-on time with a wide variety of cameras and lenses so you can see if they live up to the hype! In some stores you will also have the chance to print a sample photo using Canon’s printers and photo papers, and see what it’s like to bring your images to life.
Is Camera Store Week only about Canon?
No! This year Canon is working with a number of high-profile partners to add even more depth to the Camera Store Week experience. There will be brand collaborations with some of the biggest names in imaging, like Billingham, Manfrotto, Lowepro and others, so you can see which products best complement your shooting setup.
There has never been a better time to visit your local retailer and not just see the latest kit, but find out from the experts first-hand what it can do for you. Head to your nearest Camera Store Week partner and have some fun!
