The holiday season is here! For those who celebrate it, Christmas is just around the corner – and as is our tradition here on Digital Camera World, we mark the occasion with DCW Unwrapped.
This is where we unwrap some early photography, videography or image-making Christmas presents. It's a fun way for us to share some great gift recommendations – including gifts for yourself, if you're lucky enough to get some "paper presents" in your Christmas card!
Of course, you don't have to be a Christmas person to enjoy a gift for the holidays. So regardless of what kind of meaning this season holds for you, we'd love to invite you to share in the joy of unwrapping and unboxing a few fun photo presents with us in the run-up to the big day.
It may even give you some inspiration for gifts you can give during other seasons and occasions, whether it's a birthday, a graduation or a tradition like Eid. Or again, you may just be inspired to pick something up for yourself!
Our present today is a CEWE PHOTOBOOK. This is a CEWE XL PHOTOBOOK, but these come in a variety of shapes and sizes (small, large, XL and XXL) and they come in square, portrait and landscape, as well as a super cute kids version with chunky plastic spiral binding and extra thick pages with rounded edges.
As you can see, though, this one isn’t a kids’ product – this is a top of the range, 30 x 30cm hardcover photobook with a presentation box. And this cover has the optional, premium metallic highlights in rose gold, to give that extra dash of panache. You’ve also got the option of gold, silver, or gloss highlights as well.
As standard the XL SQUARE PHOTOBOOK comes with 26 pages, but this one has had an extra 4 pages added – and you can go all the way up to 202 pages if you want to, with options for matte, gloss or classic paper or photo paper. And, if you’d like to be kind to the environment, you can opt for recycled paper that’s certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which promotes responsible forest management and the rights of indigenous people.
If you’re a photographer, this obviously makes for a fantastic portfolio. Whether you just shoot for your own enjoyment, you’re trying to build a body of work to start attracting clients, or you’re already a professional or studio owner – as you can see, this helps your photographs make an incredible impact, and it would make a great coffee table book.
Obviously you can choose a specific portrait or landscape format, if that’s more suitable for your work, but this square format offers great versatility to blow up a landscape over a full spread, or have a diptych that shows off contrasting or complementary imagery.
This isn’t just for photographers, though – how about all those holiday snaps you take on your travels? Maybe you shot some photos at a family wedding, or a friend’s birthday party. Perhaps you want to embarrass your teenager with a collection of all the cutest pics of them growing up. Maybe you’re a wizard in the kitchen who has always wanted your own cookbook – there are dozens and dozens of uses.
