The 'Mostly White' challenged entrants with demonstrating their compositional talents and technical know-how within the framework of a primarily white photograph – which suggests, but doesn't necessarily dictate, a monochrome image.
White or pale flowers were a popular subject, with Top Photographer Enola and Nathalie Talbot among the highlights. Stark, minimalist black-and-white images also provided successful shooting material, with Zoltán Szabó's brilliant composition of a tree on a snowy hillside and Kimmy Humann's fantastic use of negative space with telephone poles disappearing over the horizon.
Wildlife also made a welcome appearance, both in terms of white birds – such as those captured by Dave Hatton and Hossam Sadek – and silhouetted birds against a white sky, like the image shot by Zeev Roytman.
The 20 highest ranked images were published in Photography Week magazine and we're pleased to showcase these images below along with the rest of the top 500 featured photographs in the gallery that follows.
