Digital Camera World is the world's fastest-growing photography website, covering every aspect of image-making, from DSLR and mirrorless cameras to cinema cameras, instant cameras, camera phones, drones, webcams, image editing, video post-production and printing.

Since 2017, DCW has been sharing its passion, knowledge, excitement and education with the photography and videography imaging communities. Through informative tutorials, no-nonsense reviews and in-depth buying advice, we help everyone from first-time camera buyers to seasoned professionals find the best gear – and show them how to use it.

Created by the expert writers and photographers behind the world’s best-selling photography magazines – including Digital Camera Magazine, PhotoPlus: The Canon Magazine, Digital Photographer, Australian Camera, and ProPhoto – DCW is for image-makers of all skill and experience levels.

DCW has a huge global social media audience across multiple platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Pinterest; the site also works closely to showcase content from its annual live sister UK event, The Photography & Video Show.

Digital Camera World is owned and published by Future plc.

Meet the Digital Camera World team

James Artaius, Digital Camera World editor
James Artaius

Based in the southwest of England, James has been a journalist for 23 years, a professional photographer for 10 and the editor of DCW for 6, before which he wrote for mags like PhotoPlus and Professional Imagemaker. His most embarrassing photography moment was being on stage at The Photography Show and unwittingly saying "Lefty loosey…" into a live mic while putting up a light stand during a masterclass.

Hillary K. Grigonis

Hillary heads up DCW's North American desk and brings with her a decade of experience in photography and technology journalism, having written for outlets including Business Insider, Pocket-lint, The Phoblographer and Digital Trends. A professional wedding and portrait photographer, in her spare time she's also an avid outdoorswoman who enjoys hiking, kayaking and camping.

Gareth Bevan

London-based Gareth has been working as a freelance photographer and videographer for the past several years but has since joined the DCW crew as head reviews honcho. While working on fashion, portrait and lifestyle content creation, Gareth has developed a range of skills covering everything from editorial shoots to social media videos. He's passionate about travel and nature photography, with a devotion to sustainability and environmental causes.

With over 20 years of expertise as a tech journalist, Adam brings a wealth of knowledge across a vast number of product categories, including timelapse cameras, home security cameras, NVR cameras, photography books, webcams, 3D printers and 3D scanners, borescopes, radar detectors… and, above all, drones. He has been contributing to the site since 2008, and joined the team full time in 2023. He was previously the publisher of Ilex photography titles at Octopus Books.

Chris has been working on DCW since the website launched in 2017 ago, and using cameras since the era of manual focus and slide film – when he won the Young Photographer of the Year award (with an Olympus OM-10 camera!). His career covering photography and technology spans over 30 years in both print and digital, during which time he has written for everyone from The Sunday Times Magazine and The Daily Telegraph to T3 and TechRadar.

Leonie Helm headshot
Leonie Helm

Our globetrotting staff writer developed a passion for photography after getting her Master's Degree in Journalism, Media and Communications at Cardiff University. She took a year out to travel the world, visiting countries like Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh and Ukraine with her trusty Nikon. In addition to travel photography, she also has a love for wildlife photography both in the UK and abroad.

Kalum Carter

Kalum is a photographer and writer based in the UK, and for almost a decade he has worked with brands and publications to create, edit, and sequence imagery. His photography has been published and exhibited around the world, and he continues to photograph on a project-by-project basis. He is currently working on a personal project capturing the people and landscape of Gower, South Wales, which will be exhibited for the National Trust.

Sebastian Oakley
Sebastian Oakley

Seb came to DCW from the world of professional equestrian photography – a field in which he holds a fellowship. He has shot for the likes of The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI – "the equestrian equivalent of FIFA," he tells us!). He's an avid Leica shooter and owner, and loves high-end cinema kit from the likes of Red and Arri.

Our resident Nikon specialist, Adam joined DCW after spending seven years as the Editor of N-Photo. Though prior to that he was a member of the PhotoPlus: The Canon Magazine team, so his knowledge stretches well beyond the Big N! He's happy photographing everything from landscapes to wildlife, just so long as he has a camera in his hands.

Mike Harris mugshot
Mike Harris

Mike brings a wealth of experience to the site, having previously served as Deputy Editor of N-Photo: The Nikon Magazine and Production Editor for UK camera retailer Wex Photo Video. He was also a long-tenured Technique Editor for print photography magazines, paving the way for his gift of sharing knowledge on DCW – especially when it comes to fast vehicles, as he's an avid motorsport photographer.

Ben Andrews
Ben Andrews

As the lone PC and Android user on a team full of Apple and iPhone heads, Ben is often on the receiving end of a bit of stick. However, he's a technical wizard when it comes to evaluating cameras and phones alike – as the lab manager for the whole photography department, he even has a white coat!

Why trust us?

The Digital Camera World team is made up of professional journalists, lifelong camera enthusiasts, and former and current professional photographers. It sounds trite, but DCW is written by photographers for photographers – our passion is to share our knowledge and experience with you, and to give you the benefit of our industry contacts and insights.

Moreover, we practice what we preach and we listen to the advice we give – especially when it comes to buying advice. If we tell you that a camera is great, it's because we've put it through its paces and we believe it delivers what it promises. We put our money where our mouth is, too – members of the team frequently purchase the kit they review. And likewise, if a product or service fails to deliver, we'll tell you that too. If you want to know more about our review process you can read all about how we test equipment.

We're not just here to tell you to buy new gear, either. We want to help you get the most out of your older and existing kit. In short, we give you the advice that we believe in and we give our honest opinions on products and developments within the imaging industry.

Affiliate & Advertising disclosure

We always aim to provide unbiased editorial created by our journalists and writers. We also need to pay our teams and website costs so we make money in a number of ways. We sometimes use affiliate links to products and services on retailer sites for which we can receive compensation if you click on those links or make purchases through them.

From time to time we also publish advertorials (paid-for editorial content) and sponsored content on the site. When this is the case the content is clearly marked as sponsored or promoted, so you’ll always know which content is editorial and which is not. We have a full guide to content funding on Digital Camera World.

Future PLC is our parent company and has an in-depth terms and conditions page with a lot more information that you can read right here.
