Gift-giving is difficult at the best of times and when it comes to photography the possibilities are endless. This often means those unfamiliar with photography are overwhelmed with choices, but my number one advice on this topic is – you can't go wrong with a photography book!

Books on photography make great gifts for photographers, as you know one thing is certain, photographers love photography. We love flicking through the pages of photography books, whether it's the work of photography icons, a new contemporary photographer making waves, or a how-to on a certain approach to a genre.

I have made a short list of five photography books that have been discounted for Black Friday and would make a fantastic addition to the bookshelf, whether buying for yourself or the photographer in your life who is difficult to buy for!

Untold Stories by Peter Lindbergh
Untold Stories by Peter Lindbergh: was £15 now £12.74 at Amazon

Peter Lindbergh may just be my favorite photographer of all time, and Untold Stories represents a self-curated exhibition of his life's work from just before his passing.

The selection features his most popular jaw-dropping fashion and portrait images, but also an unexpected look at another side of his practice not often seen.

The book is also narrated by Lindbergh, writing about his experiences trying new oeuvres and his experiences along the way – valuable for any photographer trying new things!

This book might not have the most discounted deal percentage-wise, but a Taschen-published book for under £15 is a bargain any day of the week!

The Lives of Lee Miller By Anthony Penrose
The Lives of Lee Miller By Anthony Penrose: was £12.99 now £10.79 at Amazon

The Lives of Lee Miller is a memoir of the extraordinary life of photographer, model, and mother Lee Miller written by her son Anthony Penrose.

A change of tack from the other books presented in this list, it is the remarkable story of a fascinating woman who captured some of the most iconic images from The Second World War.

Now a major motion picture starring Kate Winslet, the book captures more of the amazing adventure that was Lee Miller's life.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year: Portfolio 34 By The Natural History Museum
Wildlife Photographer of the Year: Portfolio 34 By The Natural History Museum : was £28 now £20.83 at Amazon

Each year, for the past 60 years, The Natural History Museum has held a competition for Wildlife Photographer of the Year. A selection of the best 100 photographs from this year's competition has been curated and displayed in this incredible portfolio book.

The competition is as diverse as the subject in which it showcases, from the macro world of insects to large land mammals and everything in between. This book captures the natural world and the stories behind each image.

An inspiring read for those interested in capturing wildlife!

This is just a very small selection of photography books from one retailer, aimed to inspire further exploration of the printed medium. I highly recommend checking out other esteemed photography book publishers that may not be found on Amazon, such as Stanley/Barker, Damiani, and Mack Books to name just a few!

The best thing about photography books for gifts is there is one about any subject you can imagine, making gift-giving simple! Just search for a photography book around one of the recipient's interests and you're sure to be on to a winner.

There is nothing like seeing the work of your favorite photographers as they were intended to be seen – in print!
