Lomography has announced the LomoGraflok 4x5 Instant Back, which is the world's first Instant Back for 4x5 cameras using FujifilmInstax Wide film. This back is designed to be compatible with all Graflok-equipped 4x5 cameras and Lomography hopes that it will revive instant photography for large format cameras.
Large format photography is renowned for the sheer amount of time and effort it takes to produce a single photo. With this in mind (plus the financial cost of expensive 4x5 sheet film), being able to take an instant photo to test your settings can be invaluable. Large format camera users were actually previously able to do this with peel-apart film, but this was discontinued in 2016.
Luckily, Lomography has come to the rescue with the LomoGraflok 4x5 Instant Back. Taking Fujifilm Instax Wide film, the Instant Back is designed to help large format camera users test their compositions and settings before they commit to using sheet film. This will help make this genre of photography a little more accessible to new users and a little less expensive for seasoned veterans.
The LomoGraflok was developed with large format photography professionals and is described as an "individual light-tightened Instant film ejection unit for all Graflok-equipped 4x5 cameras, which uses Fujifilm Instax Wide film – the most widely available and cost-effective instant film on the market."
Made of plastic and taking 4x AA batteries to run, the LomoGraflok 4x5 Instant Back will be officially released in April 2021 for $149/ £129, but you can pre-order it now for a 10% discount for just $134/ £116. Check out more about the LomoGraflok below!
