Take image security a step further with Lexar's new secure Flash Drive with fingerprint recognition
Want to transport or backup your photographs and other media on a portable storage device, but worried about losing the drive and having your images stolen? Lexar may have just what you need.
The recently announced JumpDrive® Fingerprint F35 is a USB 3.0 Flash Drive, featuring a built-in fingerprint scanner, for maximum access customisation. The main problem with storing images and sensitive documents on small portable devices is that, should these be lost and found by an unknown party, there is always the present danger that files will be copied and illegally distributed or sold, leading to loss of potential revenue for the rightful owner.
Pitted as one of the most secure USB 3.0 Flash Drives on the market, the JumpDrive® Fingerprint F35 employs a rapid response fingerprint identification system, preventing unauthorised users from gaining access to stored data. Lexar claims a registered fingerprint will allow access in under one second, in an aim to minimise disruption to the photographer's workflow, when searching for and moving image files.
The new device is capable of storing up to 10 fingerprint IDs and employs advanced 256-bit AES security, to ensure the contents of the drive are as safe as possible. Meanwhile the speed of the device itself is respectable, with transfers of up to 150MB per second. Usefully, no drivers are required for the JumpDrive to be set up, so it can be used straight out of the box.
Pricing
Available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB variants, the Fingerprint F35 works with both Windows and Mac operating systems and is priced at £26 ($35), £39 ($52), £70 ($92) and £132 ($173) respectively.
