If you're a Game of Thrones fan and a Nikon enthusiast, then you just might be in luck. Nikon School is hosting a free course with Helen Sloan, the stills photographer for every season of Game of Thrones. This exciting event will take place on 19 June, 2020 from 14:00–16:00 – and the best part is that it's totally free!
With many of us still in various states of lockdown, this course from Nikon School will be held over Zoom – so you can attend this informative talk from the comfort of your own living room. This upcoming Q&A talk will include Helen talking about her long career in the photographic industry and the invaluable tips and tricks she's picked up along the way.
Helen Sloan worked on Game of Thrones from the very beginning of the series, being asked to submit her portfolio for the role of stills photographer on a new TV series being filmed in studios just five minutes from her home in Belfast. Since then, she's captured some of the most exciting scenes to hit TV screens with a full roster of Nikon kit, including two Nikon D3 cameras, two Nikon Df cameras and an arsenal of Nikon lenses that include a 24-70mm f/2.8 and other impressive pieces of Nikon glass.
However, the 'At Home With: Helen Sloan' talk isn't the only exciting course Nikon School is running during lockdown. The 'At Home With' series is designed to allow you to be inspired by a professional photographer talking about their approach to producing images in a variety of different situations.
If you're a keen foodie, you might want to check out blogger and food photographer Donna Crous' talk on the best setups for food photography on 28 May. Alternatively, if you're more interested in exploring the great outdoors, expedition photographer Martin Hartley will be talking about his career documenting his journeys across the coldest parts of our planet on 8 June.
To sign up for the 'At Home With: Helen Sloan' course on 19 June from 14:00–16:00, visit the Nikon School website here. However, spaces are limited, so don't delay!
