OnePlus has done it again, partnering up with McLaren and launching a special edition version of its flagship. This time, it’s the OnePlus 7T Pro that’s had the iconic car brand treatment, with the special edition loaded up with a slick, reflective finish, a McLaren case and a massive 12GB RAM.

The OnePlus 7T Pro is a already a specced-out flagship. Just like the 7 Pro before it, the phone features an all-screen design with a curved Gorilla Glass back and front combined with a metal frame. The display is a Quad HD+ Fluid AMOLED panel with a smooth 90 Hz refresh rate, making the phone feel ultra-responsive.

Putting that screen into context, its 3120x1440 resolution makes for a pixel density of 516 pixels-per-inch - sharper than the iPhone 11 Pro Max or the new Huawei Mate 30 Pro, and the phone’s curve and under-display fingerprint scanner only adds to its appeal.

As for the McLaren component, for starters, it’s a high-gloss glass back as opposed to the frosted glass on the OnePlus 7T Pro. It also sports papaya orange accents, as seen on the current McLaren Racing Formula 1 car. The branding doesn’t stop there, with the phone case loaded up with Alcantara - a la Surface Pro keyboards and a grippy, protective plastic frame as well as a McLaren logo.

Onto the triple camera system, and it still consists of a wide, ultra-wide and telephoto combo.

The primary wide sensor is the 48MP IMX586 from Sony, as seen on the likes of the Asus ROG phone 2 and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, though on the 7T Pro it’s matched with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS.

The 16MP ultra-wide camera shoots at a 117-degree field of view, and the telephoto camera clocks in at 8MP with 3x optical zoom and OIS, by contrast to the 2x zoom and no OIS of the OnePlus 7T. Just like the 7T though, the ultrawide camera features a new macro mode which focuses as close as 2.5cm from your subject.

As for power under the hood, the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition features the latest Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, which, when paired with its 12GB RAM, puts it directly on-par with the ROG Phone 2, the best gaming phone currently available. While it isn’t expandable, the special edition 7T Pro does pack a huge 256GB storage.

With OnePlus’ latest charging tech - Warp Charge 30T loaded aboard the 7T Pro McLaren edition, it should be able to charge quickly - over 60% in 30 minutes, and stay cool while doing so. With its ample 4085mAh battery, we’re expecting day-long battery life too.

Ultimately, if you’re a McLaren fan or just really want 12GB RAM in your phone, this is the one to get. We already completed our OnePlus 7T Pro review, and while not the best camera phone around, for the price, it’s a corker.
