The Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2020 competition has recently revealed its shortlist, proving that there can always be a ray of light to be found even in the darkest of times – even if all that ray consists of is looking at some beautiful food photography.
Over 9,000 images were submitted from over 70 countries around the world, with the images displaying not only "incredible technical prowess, but the most evocative and powerful storytelling".
The global competition, which is celebrating its tenth year next year, is designed to help connect us and offer an exclusive insight into the universal language of food culture. It's not just impeccably styled photos of sumptuous dishes, the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year competition also pays tribute to the journey our food experiences from farm to plate. Thanks to its global reach, the competition also shows how food impacts cultures across the world.
Ordinarily, the competition would culminate in an awards evening at the Mall Galleries, London. However, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the awards will be presented digitally instead. On 28 April at 20:00 (GMT), the awards will be announced simultaneously on the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year Facebook page and Youtube channel.
The pre-recorded video will be shows live, which will allow the global audience, participants and sponsors to enjoy the announcement at the same time and in the comfort of their own homes.
