While camera phones have made photography as accessible as it's ever been, there are certain situations when a manual camera is just essential. Or, are there? Traditionally, low light has made camera phone photography difficult, as phone sensors just aren't advanced enough to handle the lack of light. However, with the introduction of the Profoto C1 and C1 Plus, this is all about to change.
The Profoto C1 product range contains Profoto's first studio lights for camera phones. Both the Profoto C1 and C1 Plus are small, pocket-sized lights that help you create professional images with just a click.
With a rounded shape the Profoto C1 and C1 Plus are designed to give a beautifully soft light. With inner reflectors situated under the integrated dome diffuser, the light is designed to create natural shadows for the most flattering light possible.

With the ability to change between flash and flicker-free continuous light, this light is set to prove popular with bloggers and Instagrammers who need professional results from light and compact kit.
Compatible with iPhone 7 and its successors, the Profoto C1 and C1 Plus are supported by the Profoto Camera app, which allows you to adjust color temperature, has a manual mode for full control over power and exposure, and has a point-and-shoot mode with automatic exposure and flash power based on the surrounding conditions.

Interestingly, magnetic modifying accessories for the Profoto A1 can also be used on the Profoto C1 and C1 Plus. This includes a set of color gels and a dome diffuser.
Anders Hedebark, CEO of Profoto, says, "We recognized that there are many people out there who might not see themselves as professional photographers, but they are great image creators and dependent on professional-looking images in order to build their business and brand. People like bloggers and influencers. That is why we developed the Profoto C1 product range and the new and intuitive Profoto Camera, an app for smartphones."
While the Profoto C1 can only be used with camera phones, the Profoto C1 Plus is compatible with all Profoto AirTTL Remotes, which means that it can also be used with classic cameras as well. The C1 Plus also has a standard 1/4"-20 thread for stand mount.
