There were plenty of contenders for 2018's most popular photograph, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, celebrity images dominated the field.
But one image has racked up an incredible 18 million Likes and almost 2m comments on Instagram since it was posted in February.
That’s more than 5m Likes ahead of the second most popular image on the platform. And despite there being a little time left in 2018, it’s unlikely to be beaten this year.
And the winner is...
An image celebrating a major event in the life of reality TV star Kylie Jenner. The Instagram photo revealed her new daughter, Stormi Webster, for the first time.
Captioned simply with her name, and having shared it with her 122m followers on 6th February, it almost instantly became the most popular image ever posted on the platform.

In fact, eight of the top 20 most popular Instagram photos also come courtesy of Kylie Jenner - five of which feature her daughter.
Yet despite her success, she’s not the most followed individual on the platform yet. That honor goes to Juventus player Cristiano Ronaldo (nearly 149m followers), who also managed to score a healthy five images in the top 20 most liked of 2018.

2018's second most popular image was posted by singer Justin Bieber, whose photo announcing his engagement to model and TV personality Hailey Baldwin, has managed to rack up 13.3m Likes so far.
