Wildlife photographer George Logan has recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce a beautiful wildlife photography book centered around one of nature's most incredible creatures – the lion. The book, entitled 'Lion: Pride Before The Fall', will present beautiful wildlife photography that celebrates the lifecycle of the lion while also highlighting the plight that Africa's remaining lions face.
With less than 20,000 lions left in the wild, conservation organizations, such as the Born Free's 'Last Lions of Meru' program in Kenya, are working to protect and increase the lion population. The 'Last Lions of Meru' charity aims to increase monitoring and population tracking, as well as expanding conservation work across the Meru Conservation Area and rekindling the entire ecosystem so that other species can flourish as well. If Logan's book is successfully crowdfunded, then proceeds from the sale of the books will support this vital program.
This wildlife photography coffee table book will be produced in a large format with 176 pages of wild lion photography, including a conceptual art section that represents the threats that lions face today.
Born Free founder and actress, Virgina McKenna OBE, will write the foreword to George Logan's wildlife photography book. She says: "No one, in my view, more strikingly has caught the multiple dimensions of lions' behavior and depth of character than George Logan. He has an unfailing sensitivity and admiration for the individual animal."
If you want to support the Kickstarter campaign, pledges begin from just £20 with campaign bolt-in incentives from Born Free and George Logan, including animal adoptions, sighed Ltd edition prints, photographic mentoring with George and even a trip to Meru National Park in Kenya to see Born Free's projects in person.
George Logan says: "All proceeds from this book will raise vital funds to support, protect and help re-establish the 'Last Lions of Meru' in Kenya. It's difficult to articulate the depths of what we stand to lose, but I hope that through this book the lions will help tell that story. This work, the culmination of over 10 years following and photographing Africa's lion prides, brings their dramatic narrative to life in all its natural beauty and raw ferocity.
