Digital Camera World Verdict

The Fujifilm GF 110mm F2 R LM WR delivers just what I need for portraiture with a Fujifilm GFX medium format camera. It’s equivalent to using an 85mm lens on a full-frame body, along with a fast aperture that enables a tight depth of field. It’s weighty and pricey but image quality is simply stunning.

Pros

  • +

    Useful 85mm ‘effective’ focal length

  • +

    Fast f/2 aperture rating

  • +

    Sublime image quality and handling

Cons

  • -

    Weighty at just over 1kg

  • -

    Expensive to buy

For portraiture with a full-frame camera, I tend to grab an 85mm fast prime, at least when I’m using a full-frame camera. And I’m certainly not the only one. The field of view is ideal for head-and-shoulders and half-length shots, so I can be close enough to engage with my subject, without invading their personal space.

The Fujifilm GF 100-200mm F5.6 R LM OIS WR adds the versatility of a zoom lens and is less expensive to buy but has a comparatively slow aperture rating.

The similarly priced Fujifilm GF 120mm F4 Macro R LM OIS WR adds the potential of 0.5x macro magnification for extreme close-ups but is an f/stop slower.
