The best iPhone power bank in 2024: portable chargers for your Apple device
Top up far from home, with the best iPhone power banks
The best iPhone power bank is one of the most important investments you can make. Because while it won't cost a lot money, it could be a real lifesaver when your iPhone runs out of juice, whether you've been on a long trip, or just forgotten to charge for phone.
Most iPhone power banks offer between 5,000mAh and 10,000mAh of power, which is normally enough for a full day's charge. If you're heading into the wilds for a weekend, you might need a larger one; but that will probably be heavier and bulkier, as well as pricier, so there's a balance to be struck there.
To compile this list. we've drawn on our experience both testing power banks as tech journalists, and using them in our work. We've also included links to full reviews if you want to read about the different models in detail.

This is basically the Swiss Army knife of portable chargers. With its Qi2-certified 15W wireless charging and zippy 27W wired option, it's designed to juice up your iPhone quickly and efficiently. And that's not all. It also has a built-in display, which provides a clear readout of remaining battery life and estimated charging time. The clever flip-out stand is another winner, allowing you to prop up your phone for video watching or FaceTime calls while it charges.
While it's not the slimmest power bank on the market, its 10,000mAh capacity offers ample recharges for most iPhones. The premium build quality and Anker's reputation for reliability help justify the fact that it's quite expensive.

Want something more portable than number one on our list, which weighs 250g? The Belkin magnetic power bank weighs 100g less, but it's still very capable. We especially like its a nifty built-in stand; a way to prop up your phone for videos, keep tabs on notifications, and even dive into video calls hands-free.
Though it might not pack the biggest battery punch out there, this power bank manages to give your phone almost a full recharge when needed. The smaller battery size isn’t a flaw; it’s what keeps it slim, compact, and light and doesn’t weigh you down during long days.

The Anker Nano power bank has caught my eye for a few reasons. First off, its size and range of colors make it quite an adorable accessory. Secondly, having the built-in USB-C cable means more frantic searches for the right cable when you're in a pinch. And something else I find clever is how they've made the cable double as a carry handle. It's a small touch, but one that makes grabbing it on the go a breeze.

Some iPhone users like to stick to official Apple products only. That way, everything's certain to play together nicely, and if it doesn't, those geniuses at the Apple Store are sure to help you fix it. Okay, that's going to be more expensive, but if your time is valuable, or you just want the minimum of stress, it can be a price worth paying.
If you agree, then your best iPhone power bank is this official product from Apple. Note, though, that it's expensive, and the battery isn't the highest powered, at just 1,460 or 2920mAH.
On the plus side, at just 11mm thick, it couldn't be more portable. You get the choice of wired and wireless charging, and with the latter, it magnetically snaps to the back of your phone in a quite beautiful fashion. If you prefer the former, you can connect a pre 15/16 series iPhone via a Lightning cable and 20W+ USB-C power adapter, although you'll need to buy both of these separately.

The switch to USB-C charging for the iPhone 15 and 16 is indeed a game-changer, making the Anker Nano 22.5W power bank an enticing solution to just slip into a pocket at all times. With its 5,000mAh capacity, it packs just the right punch to give your phone that essential boost precisely when it's needed, although it isn't going to give you more than one full recharge. However, the 22.5W charging capability ensures a swift charge, so you can get your phone topped up faster.
What's truly convenient is the built-in pop-up USB-C port, eliminating the hassle of carrying an extra cable. It's the kind of versatile gadget that feels like a must-have for every jacket pocket, ready to step in whenever your phone calls for a pick-me-up.

This Ugreen power bank is a real speedster when it comes to juicing up multiple devices fast. With a hefty 145W power split across its USB ports, including a speedy 100W-capable USB-C, it's built to charge up your iPhone as well as other gadgets and power-hungry laptops. Its ample capacity means I can recharge my iPhone multiple times and keep my camera gear running during those long shoots away from a power outlet.
But hey, it's not the only 25,000mAh power bank out there – and if you're not all about fast charging, then you will find lighter and cheaper options in this list. The power bank is also big and heavy, and let's face it – might be a bit much for some folks to handle.

Going away for a long period? The UGREEN 300W 48,000mAh Power Bank is a high-capacity portable charger that's perfect for camping trips or prolonged power outages. Its 48,000mAh capacity allows it to charge an iPhone 15 Pro nearly 11 times or a MacBook Air M2 once. It can also charge up to five devices simultaneously, including smartphones, laptops, and other gadgets, with a total output of 300W.
Built with premium materials in a sleek, muted design, the power bank includes a low-light display showing battery level and power usage. Despite being portable, its significant weight (1.86 kg) makes it better suited for stationary use or car trips rather than hikes. Charging the unit itself can be slow without investing in high-wattage cables, but its powerful battery makes it stand out in a crowded market.

How to choose the best iPhone power bank
The best iPhone power bank for you is the one that suits your charging style best. If you prefer wireless charging, then there are a number of power banks on this list that would suit you better. Wireless charging is much more convenient, but it is much slower than wired charging, and wireless power banks tend to have much lower capacities than wired banks.
If you are happy to charge with a wire, then your choice comes down to how big you want your power bank to be and how often you want to recharge. If want to recharge multiple times then the power bank will be much larger, but it means you'll have to charge the power bank less. If you want a power bank to just keep your phone from completely dying then a smaller power bank will do for emergencies, but might require you to think more about how much power is left in the power bank itself.
How we test iPhone power banks
We test iPhone power banks by trying to use them in our regular daily use of our iPhones, specifically looking at how fast each power bank recharges our phone, and how many chargers can we get out of the power bank before it runs out of juice itself. We can then compare this to the manufacturer specifications, and see how they match up.
We also look at the design and build quality of power banks, rating each power bank on its appearance and durability. Finally, we assess power banks' convenience in use, is it easy to understand, and does it have all the necessary parts.
FAQs
What is mAh?
Milliampere hours (mAh) is a widely-used measurement for stating the power capacity of a battery. Apple doesn't give official figures for the capacities of the rechargeable batteries that it puts in its iPhones, but according to Phone Arena the industry-accepted figures are:
iPhone 14 Pro Max - 4,323 mAh
iPhone 14 Pro - 3,200 mAH
iPhone 14 Plus - 4,325 mAH
iPhone 14 - 3,279 mAH
iPhone 13 Pro Max - 4,352 mAH
iPhone 13 Pro - 3,095 mAH
iPhone 13 Mini - 2,406 mAH
iPhone 13 - 3,227 mAH
The bigger the screen, the more power a phone uses - hence why the Pro Max models have the biggest batteries.
As a rough rule, if you divide the battery capacity of the power bank by the capacity of your phone's battery you get the maximum number of recharges it can give. So a 10,000mAh battery could recharge an iPhone 13 three times.
What is the best power bank for iPhone?
Some iPhone users like to stick to official Apple products only. That way, everything's certain to play together nicely, and if it doesn't, those geniuses at the Apple Store are sure to help you fix it. Okay, that's going to be more expensive, but if your time is valuable, or you just want the minimum of stress, it can be a price worth paying.
If you agree, then your best iPhone power bank is the MagSafe Battery Pack, an official product from Apple. Note, though, that it's expensive, and the battery isn't the highest powered, at just 1,460 or 2,920mAH.
