UPDATE: The first James Bond Leica camera of 2021, the Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams, has been officially announced.

While this was the second James Bond Leica to be leaked, following the still unreleased Leica Q2 007 (no doubt being held back until the theatrical release of the perpetually delayed No Time To Die), it is the first one to hit the market.

• Hands on: Leica Q2 review

Inside it's identical to the standard Leica Q2, but all the engravings are inlaid with gold paint, the body has a diamond-pattern embossed leather design, the name and serial number are laser-etched beneath the glass cover, and the signature Leica red dot has been replaced by a black dot with gold lettering.

It also features a vegetable-dyed Nappa leather strap embossed with the Leica logo and gilded eyelets and is housed in a hinged-lid presentation box with gold lettering and a black silk lining.

Limited to 750 units, the Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams is available now for $6,995 / £5,600 / AU$9,990 (that's an extra $2,000 / £1,100 / $AU2,000 more than the standard Q2, for those keeping track).

ORIGINAL STORY (09 Feb): A second limited edition James Bond Leica camera has had its cover blown in the field, as the Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams camera has been leaked online.

The latest camera based on the British super spy (or, at least, the actor who plays him), the Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams joins the previously leaked but still unreleased Leica Q2 007.

Leica clearly sees a lot of mileage in the James Bond connection, both through the officially licensed 007 camera – set to release in conjunction with the repeatedly delayed new film, No Time to Die – as well as the collaboration with current Bond actor Daniel Craig and modern era Bond photographer Greg Williams.

Craig, of course, is a well known Leica shooter and can often be spotted at red carpet events and on film sets taking photographs with his own Leica cameras. It always felt like a matter of time until he joined fellow celebrities in having his own collaboration camera, such as the faux snakeskin-clad Lenny Kravitz Leica Drifter.

Williams, meanwhile, has been a set and stills photographer for a number of recent Bond films, and has released a number of Bond on Set books featuring his photography for Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, as well as the Pierce Brosnan 007 film Die Another Day

In addition, Craig is one of many celebrities who have sat for Williams' portrait sessions including Robert Downey Jr and Sean Penn, and the photographer has also shot campaigns for Omega and Dunhill.

While the images were leaked by renowned insider Nokishita, no information on a price or release date were revealed – though we do know (by examining the rear of the camera) that it will be limited to 750 pieces worldwide.

However, with No Time to Die having been delayed from its original November 2019 release to October 2021 due to COVID – with reports that reshoots are required, due to the Nokia phone featured in the film being two years old – perhaps the manufacturer will be keen to release the Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg William soon, rather than risking a further wait for another potential delay.
